‘Random Act of Kindness gives Auckland school an extreme makeover’

Auckland. Hundreds of volunteers turned out to give a Glen Innes Primary school an ‘extreme’ school make-over on Saturday.
As part of National Random Acts of Kindness Day (RAK) on September 1, volunteers from Christian Life Centre Auckland (LIFE) and other local businesses lent a hand to get the job done. Everyone mucked-in to completely restore the exterior of the school with new paint, gardens, decking, shade sails and a facelift to the school entrance among other areas that needed attention.
Principal Russell Burt said the makeover was literally an answer to prayer, and will put the school nearly five years ahead in its maintenance plan, with this assistance school funds can be funnelled into other learning areas. “We’re absolutely thrilled with the quality of this amazing work and the extent of it completely blows us away. To see so many people all working in harmony, with an exciting joyful buzz in the air is a tribute to the work and character of this church and a real blessing to our school.’

Burt says the random act of kindness will make his 450 pupils even more proud of their school and help further lift their aspirations.
In a world where life is faster, and people are busier, Christian Life Centre Auckland (LIFE) believes that RAK Day is an opportunity for people to look beyond themselves, for no personal gain other than to make someone else’s life brighter.

Lili Lemalu, one of the organisers of this imitative said that Pt England Primary was picked at random on the recommendation of a church member who drove past the school every day. Ms Lemalu hopes that RAK Day will strengthen the Glen Innes community and show that the local church cares.
“We need to give our children hope and show them unconditional love through our actions. What better way to do this than to give Pt England School a lift.”
