Thank You!

...to everyone who participated and supported National RAK Day, here are some great comments from that we have received.

Comment: We had our RAK week last week and just want to tell you that it has been the best week ever! We had guardian angels - secret santas, while teachers may have been slighlty distracted, the students showed lots of RAK as did the teaching staff. We had clean ups, bake sales, sharing of rooms (eg foods room for out New Caledonian visitors), lunches for staff, hot drinks for students...the list goes on and on. So it is a great thing, and to be greeting with a day like today..wow! Just wanted to pass on our thoughts. Have a fabulous week - RAK Team 2008. A great way to celebrate! Regards Prue

I have just finished making biscuits with my 8 year old to take to school tomorrow. We will make some muffins in the morning for her to take for her teachers. Great idea - thanks for starting it. Hope you have random of kindness acts bestowed upon you also.

Awesome idea. I will make some fudge and take it in to work, because Mondays can be very busy on the help desk where I work, and we all need a little bit of sugar! I will also put some in the freezer for a friend of mine whose man starts chemo in a couple of weeks, so that when it's a cold and rainy day, and he's in hospital, she can mull everything over with wine and chocolate fudge.

Hi there I don't have any questions or queries but a comment instead. Well done on setting up an excellent concept. There should be more people out there like you guys!! I'll definitely be participating on Sept 1st. Cheers.

HI: GREAT idea and I so support this ! This is somethig I aim to do EVERYDAY and not just one day of the year, having known deeper inside me this is not only what I needed to 'give out' each day, but there are so many millions of people in all kinds of situations for whom a simple act of acknowledgement or gratitude would make a HEAP of differenece, AND RIPPLE OUT in ways we could never know! ...Many thanks again, in gratitude for doing what YOU are doing in appreciating others, FOR NO OTHER GOOD REASON BUT THAT WE CAN !!!!!

Hi, i just wanted to say thanks for the idea of a national day. I have been a long term foster parent and have spent many years raising other peoples children, one of my most rewarding children, Reuben, was terminally ill, he died months after coming to live with me, he was a day off 2, he taught us all so much and the 1st of September has 4 the last 11 years been a deeply sad day for me, but this year i will go into it, thinking of him, carrying on my philosphy of doing and caring for others, spread the word of RAK to my networds, but i will do it in memory of a sweet wee man who never harmed anyone, brought love to the world and shared it with all whom he met, and who sadly wasn't destined to be here along time, thanks

Hey. Just wanted to say that this is the best idea i've heard in ages. I love the flow on effect it has too. One person we know mentioned having a bunch of hooded young people come up to her door, ring the doorbell and run away. upon going to the door to yell at them she found a huge grocery hamper with these RAK cards sitting in it. And this was in February! The young children where i currently live asked what they could do so this year, so we are buying lots of little chocolate bars and cellotaping RAK cards to them for them to give to all there teachers and to the disabled persons hostle, just up from us. They're already excited. Love it, thanks heaps Maria

As our RAK, the girls took a mixture of wrapped roses and gerberas to the streets of Papakura and handed them out with a smile. They enjoyed themselves and have been on a high all afternoon

Thanks so much guys, this is a really great idea. Today I made truffles for everyone at work (at the university of Waikato) and someone else left chocolates in all of our mail pigeon holes. This is great fun! Such a good idea.

Hi Josh - We wanted to write and tell you RAK Day is a great idea. Should have done so last week - but then we found your website so here goes. We're trying to do find ways to do Random Acts of Kindness every day. It's an amazing way to live. God bless and thanks for the inspiration, John and Linda Watson

I love this idea. Unfortunately I was unable to do anything yesterday but have a project in mind for today. An elderly friend of mine wants some help with her computer so am going there this afternoon to call on her. I hope that this idea goes further than just NZ, and also that people will get such a "kick" out of it that they will want to do it more often. Great work and congratulations for taking the initiative!

Hi I just saw your idea and website on Cambell Live, so I have just indexed your website into the New Zealand based search engine that I wrote www.linknz.co.nz it is now the largest search engine that is based in New Zealand. The webspider User Agent Linknzbot should leave a signature in your stats and log files. All the very best with such a good idea, I'm pleased to make it searchable for you. All the best Dave Andrews From the Linknz search engine.

EXCELLENT PUBLICITY!

Just a quick note to congratulate you on the publicity and the wonderful idea.  At long last all these chocolate bars we have at home for school fundraising can be put to good use.  Our daughter is a Diabetes Health Nurse Educator so we will keep it quiet from her !!

Have a good day

Congratulations - this is a fabulous idea. A RAK on the motorways here in Auckland could be smiling at people in the vehicles around you as you let them in rather than the usual scowl on a lot of motorist's faces (mine included at times). Also I wanted to share a RAK that happened (on more than one occasion) when I lived in Sydney - the person at the harbour bridge toll booth before you would pay for the toll for the following vehicle, the first time it happened to me, I was very confused about who was in the front vehicle but once I realised it was a RAK I was left with an all day smile. Keep up the great work.

Just want to say well done on bringing a fantastic concept to NZers. I work as a youth co-ordinator for Society of St Vincent de Paul. My work involves co-ordinating voluntary groups of children into Christian service work. We visit rest homes, give away rugs, flowers, cards, help out at the op. shop, blind centre, meals on wheels, riding for disabled etc. and only fundraise when we need money to help others. My work is in Catholic schools but the work is so satisfying and character building that I think the programme should be in all schools. As our society becomes more 'what's in it for me' orientated, our children are losing the will to do something for nothing. Our youth will function better in a society where they feel integrated and valued. You guys are doing a fantastic job. Any way I can help, let me know. Kind reagrds to all and happy RAK DAY!!
